KV6 Cruise Control

The cruise control is an electronically operated
system using electro-mechanical devices to
accurately maintain the car at a constant road speed
without the use of the accelerator pedal. The driver
selects the speed and the cruise control ECU will
automatically maintain any speed over 28 mph, 45
km/h.
WARNING: To avoid the risk of losing
control of the car; do not use the cruise
control on winding, snow covered or
slippery roads, or in traffic conditions where a
constant speed cannot be safely maintained. In
these conditions and at any time the system is
not being used, ensure the cruise control switch
is OFF.

The cruise control ECU operates in response to
signals sent to it from:
• The cruise ON/OFF switch.
• The ’SET +’ and ’RES’ (resume) switches.
• Vehicle speed sensor (automatic model: signal
from MEMS ECM)
• Brake pedal switch - incorporated in the stop
lamp switch.
• Clutch pedal switch (manual model)
• Automatic shift control - ’N’ lock-out or SNOW
mode (automatic model)
When the system is switched ON, the indicator light
in the cruise control switch is illuminated. The cruise
control is set by accelerating the car in the normal
manner to the required speed and then, press the
’SET +’ switch towards the steering wheel. The
cruise control will now automatically maintain the set
speed. The ECU stores the value of the road speed
and actuates the pump in the pneumatic control unit
to create a vacuum within the pneumatic actuator
which actuates the throttle lever.
If the ’SET +’ switch is pressed (towards the steering
wheel) and held, the speed will increase without the
accelerator pedal being depressed. When the switch
is released, the speed reached will be held in the
memory and maintained. If the ’SET +’ switch is
pressed momentarily, the speed will be increased
slightly.
WARNING: The cruise control directly
actuates the accelerator pedal. DO NOT
rest your foot under the accelerator pedal
as it may become trapped.

The cruise control will disengage, without losing the
speed held in the memory when:
• The brake pedal is depressed.
• The clutch pedal is depressed (manual model) or
the shift control lever is moved into position ’N’ or
SNOW mode is selected (automatic model).
• The RES (resume) switch is pressed.
To re-engage cruise control, press the ’RES’ switch.
Provided the speed is above 28 mph, 45 km/h the
control will return the car to the previously set speed.
If it is necessary to use the accelerator pedal to
carry out an overtaking manoeuvre, the cruise
control will return the car to the previously set speed
when the pedal is released.
The speed in the memory will be cancelled when:
• The cruise master switch is switched OFF.
• The engine is switched OFF.
