VideoReDo is just about the best basic tool for dealing with VOB files from the Liteon PVR's hard drive. Below is a few screen caps showing how simple it is to use.
Go through each VOB file and check that it is, [a] the one you want and [b] plays ok A common problem is that the audio may be out of sync, this can be due to a number of causes, frequently it is because the programme was transmitted this way. Fortunately it is very easy to correct this using the tool in VideoReDo.
Cut out any parts not wanted (usually adverts etc) using "sel start" "sel end" and "cut selection" buttons
When you are happy with it use the "SaveAs" button, naming the file something meaningful to you. Notice that I open the files
from J: drive which is the Liteon's hdd and save them to D: on my PC. The main
reason for this, the first is that the LITONFAT drive has the 4 Gig file size
limit (as FAT 32 which seems to be the same or at least compatible), this is
equivalent to about two hours in SP mode. Saving to the PCs NTFS drive has no
such limitation.
You will probably now have several mpg files that make up the programme you are making into a DVD. These can be used directly in DVD authoring software (such as TMPGEncDVDAuthor or what ever your favourite is). Often a little final editing is needed and this again is easily done with VideoReDo. Reopen VideoReDo and press the "Open Video" button. Holding the shift key select the file you want to combine. (Any you don't want in the block can be unselected by using the Ctrl key and left clicking with the mouse).
Now hit the "Combine" button, this will open all the selected mpg file as one video.
Now it can be finally edited to produce a new mpg. When you've finished save the file as before and it will be ready for use in DVD authoring software. Or the resulting mpg files can be used to make XviD or DivX avi video.
