8. Lubricate threads and beneath heads of cylinder head bolts 1 to 10 with Molybdenum disulphide based grease.

9. Lubricate threads of bolts 11 and 12 with engine oil.

10. Position cylinder heads one at a time, ensuring gasket is fully covered by cylinder head.

 

 

 

 
11. Fit and hand tighten bolts 11 and 12 prior to fitting next head. when all heads are fitted, align cylinder head with exhaust manifold and recheck coverage of gasket.

NOTE: Using a straight-edge check that height of heads is within 0.1 mm of each other.
Using shank of a 3 mm drill as a gauge, check the gap between heads.
The gap must not be below 1.5 mm or above 4.5 mm.

 

12. Position spacer blocks.

Position end plates.

 

15. Tighten bolts 1 to 10 in sequence shown a further 7using a torque angle gauge.

Again in sequence shown tighten bolts 1 to 10 a further 7.

16. Tighten bolts 11 to 30 Nm, then a further 85°.

17. Tighten bolts 12 to 30 Nm, then a further 85°.

18. Lubricate and fit push rods.

19. Fit rocker assemblies, fit nuts and tighten to 33 Nm.

20. Position rocker oil feed pipe assembly, align pipe to cylinder heads and fit NEW sealing washers. Fit banjo bolts but DO NOT tighten.

21. Align pipe union to cylinder block adapter, fit NEW sealing washers and tighten banjo bolt to 18 Nm.

22. Tighten cylinder head union banjo bolts to 13 Nm.

23. Connect temperature gauge sensor lead.

24. Connect heater plug connectors.

 

 

 

14. Fit cylinder head bolts shown as 1 to 10 and tighten in that order to 30 Nm. Overcheck by repeating procedure with the same torque.
